The Aquila District was formed in 1979 from a merger of the Orion and West
Seattle districts. Its current territory covers Burien, Des Moines,
Normandy Park, Sea Tac, Tukwila, Vashon Island, West Seattle, and White Center. There are
28 Cub Scout packs, 27 Boy Scout troops, and 14 Venturing Scout crews, Explorer
units, and Sea Scout ships in the district today. The Yankee Clipper, the
oldest Sea Scout Ship in the Chief Seattle Council, is based in the
Aquila District.
